Hello! My name is Keylan Cortes. I'd love to talk with you about my Knox experience.

My favorite spot on campus:
Working in Seymour Library I know all the cozy and quiet study places but my favorite place on campus has to be Seymour study lounge where my friends and I eat snacks and study/hang out until 2am.

Professor a new student should absolutely take a class with:
Any class with Gabe Raley!! She is my major advisor and was my first year advisor as well. Gabe taught my FP course, which really discussed heavy and sensitive topics and she always listened and cared about what every student had to say. She builds relationships with everyone of her students and has the most comfortable bean bag chair in her office. Plus we found out we used to be neighbors when she lived in LA which makes me love her more.

How I chose my major:
My first year advisor was a sociology professor which is how I discovered the major and my FP course really helped get a solid understanding of how humans can make a difference in society.

The Knox class I never expected to love:
I absolutely loved taking School and Society with Professor DeWitt I never had an interest in becoming a teacher or education but that classes opened my eyes to serious issues and made me minor ineducation. Highly recommend this class!

My most challenging class so far:
I took CS101 which was one of my most challenging class I struggled throughout the whole course even with tutoring. Even though I worked so hard to raise my grade from an F to a D+. I was disappointed in myself until I realized this one class would not hold me back from my degree.

What are some surprisingly cool things about Galesburg?
I always tell my friends and family about the potato pizza which they think sounds gross but I think is Galesburg's signature dish.
