The Unedited Manuscript of Michael Burlingame's Abraham Lincoln: A Life
In 2008, the Johns Hopkins University Press published Professor Burlingame's long-awaited biography of Abraham Lincoln. In an "Author's Note" at the beginning of Vol. 1, the author wrote: "To keep this long book from becoming even longer, I have pared down the manuscript and streamlined the notes," but he noted that the "original unedited version" would be available online at the website of the Lincoln Studies Center at Knox College. Chapters 1-31 are now available.
