Things to Know about Transferring to Knox

1. There's a place for you here. We're a small, welcoming, and diverse community. It will take literally no time at all for you to meet people who share your interests, make new friends, and feel at home in Galesburg.

2. You won't miss out on any of the uniquely Knox experiences available to our students. Want to study abroad? Conduct independent research or creative work? Participate in one of our unique 10-week immersive terms? There's time. We can make it work.

3. You'll be eligible for financial aid and scholarships. In fact, we offer scholarships specifically for transfer students. If you’re an artist, you may be eligible for scholarships in music, theater, theatre design, dance, and visual art. Auditions and portfolios in the arts are due by the same deadline as your application for admission (see knox.edu/apply for specific deadlines).

What to Expect

A thorough transcript review following your admission

Our registrar will individually review your academic record to make sure you get the appropriate credit for your previous work. At Knox, courses are typically one credit; you'll need 36 credits to graduate. Generally, credits transfer at .3 credits per semester hour and .2 credits per quarter hour. The maximum number of transfer credits we'll accept from a community college is 18; from other institutions, no more than 19 credits overall may be accepted. See our transfer credit policy for more details.

One-on-one help planning the rest of your college experience

You'll meet with an advisor to go over your personal educational plan. They'll help you understand which courses you need to complete your chosen major, as well as how to fit in study abroad, internships, and any other courses you want to take.

Get Started

Visit campus. You can attend a class, meet with current students, and talk to faculty members in your chosen area of study.
