Ballroom Dancing Club

When you think of college students dancing, do images of MTV Spring Break come to mind? The Knox Ballroom Dancing Club

And when you hear someone say "do the hustle," do you think they're telling you to hurry up?

If so, maybe it's time you checked out the Knox Ballroom Dancing Club. You just may find that foxtrotting, hustling and doing the cha cha aren't just for your parents and grandparents!

Club members meet weekly to learn and practice all forms of ballroom-style dancing, both smooth and Latin, including:

  • Waltz
  • Foxtrot
  • Rumba
  • Tango
  • Cha Cha
  • Hustle
  • and many other dances

The club counts faculty, staff, and students among its membership, and is open to all—no partner, experience, or coordination necessary.

But just because the club is open to all doesn't mean it's not competitive. In fact, in the past has competed in the Cyclone Ballroom Classic, an all-day dance competition at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, with Knox members winning first place in the newcomer category in American Tango and International Rumba.

For more information, contact Professor Don Blaheta, faculty advisor for the club, at dblaheta@knox.edu.
