The Knox Student Honored with 14 Prizes in Journalism
The staff of student journalists at The Knox Student (TKS) received 14 awards from the Illinois College Press Association (ICPA) in Chicago on February 22.
Among these awards were first place and second place in the prestigious in-depth/investigative reporting category and third place in general excellence. The awards were from a wide spectrum of categories—including news reporting, spot photography, feature design, and front-page layout—and they show the diverse talents of the TKS staff.
The Knox Student is the College's official, award-winning student newspaper. Produced weekly, TKS has been student-written, student-run, and student-read since 1878.
In 2018, TKS took home 19 ICPA awards, including the first-place award in general excellence for the second year in a row after receiving a record-breaking 20 state awards in 2017. In December 2019, TKS was named a finalist for the Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker Award, collegiate journalism’s preeminent award. The paper won the award in 2017.
