Jean Anderson of Chicago, a 1987 Knox College graduate and business consultant, has joined the Knox College Board of Trustees, having served as the chair of Knox's Alumni Council for the past two years. She replaces Eric Wilson '84 as board member ex officio.
Anderson has served as an alumni volunteer for more than ten years, including two terms as president of the Executive Board of the Chicago Knox Club, the College's largest regional alumni organization. She has been a member of Knox's national Alumni Council since 2005 and was named chair of the Alumni Council in 2009.
At Knox, Anderson earned her bachelor's degree in psychology, cum laude. She received College Honors for her advanced undergraduate research in the psychology of advertising, and the 1987 Edith Powers Van Dyke Memorial Award in Psychology. She also earned a master's degree in organizational psychology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Recently she joined Clerestory Consulting, LLC, in Evanston, Illinois, as a senior consultant.
Anderson has advised students through Knox's Center for Career and Pre-Professional Development, at events on the Knox campus and in the Chicago area. She also has done volunteer service for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the St. Joseph's Insight Tutoring Program, and The Employment Project, which provides employment counseling for the homeless. In 2009 Anderson was recognized for her volunteer work for the College with a Knox Service Award.
Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 45 states and 48 countries. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
