To maintain the vitality of the renewed curriculum—Renewed Knox—Knox continually evaluates the relevance of the academic program and updates course offerings to meet the needs of today’s students.
As part of the College’s re-accreditation process, all academic departments and programs completed an institutional self-study. Assisted by the new Office of Institutional Research, the College addressed issues that ensure the vitality of each academic department and program.
A new program in film studies was introduced. Interdisciplinary in nature, film studies strives to create thoughtful, literate consumers and critics of contemporary visual arts.
The sixth—and final—educational center proposed as part of Renewed Knox was completed. Supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Center for Research and Advanced Studies prepares students to pursue undergraduate research opportunities, lines up sources of funding for independent projects, oversees the Honors program, and helps students applying for post-baccalaureate fellowships. Stephen Bailey, long-time associate dean, serves as the Center’s director.
Lawrence B. Breitborde, dean of the College, explains the importance of the Center for Research and Advanced Studies.
