Knox College Choir Home Tour Concert

Home Tour concert showcases works performed in Spain

The Knox College Choir's Home Tour concert on March 23 will showcase works performed during the group's tour of Spain during Knox's Spring Break, March 11-20.

The choir will perform at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 23, in Kresge Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts on the Knox campus in Galesburg. The concert is free and open to the public.

The 53-member choir, conducted by Laura Lane, professor of music and director of choral activities, will perform works by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Tomas Luis de Victoria, and Felix Mendelssohn. Several selections were chosen specifically for the performances in Barcelona and the Catalan region of Spain.

The concert also features a composition by one of the choir members, Edward Davis, a music and English literature major from Chicago.

The Knox College Choir has performed throughout the United States and numerous times in Europe, including England, Austria, and the Czech Republic, and in Barcelona in 2003, 2006, 2008 and 2011. Lane recently finalized plans to perform in Carnegie Hall in 2013; she directed the Knox College Choir and other choral groups in a concert in Carnegie Hall in New York in 2005.

The Choir has recorded several compact discs that feature their tour programs, which may be ordered online from the Knox College Bookstore.
