The Walter Hobbs Society recognizes donors who have left realized bequests to Knox of $1,000,000 or more. The society is named after Walter Hobbs '25 whose bequest of $10,480,659, received in 2006, was the largest gift in Knox's history. Walter placed no restrictions on the gift, and the Board of Trustees used it to create of the Hobbs Endowment. His generosity and that of all Hobbs Society members forever continue to make a difference in the lives of future generations of Knox students.
