There is no education better suited to meeting the needs of today's rapidly evolving, global world than a residential liberal arts education. One that is intentionally collaborative and cross-disciplinary. One that introduces students to different cultures and new information and challenges them to find proactive, pragmatic solutions to global problems. In short, a human-powered education. A Knox education.
Yet Knox doesn't simply offer its students an education; it offers an experience that takes students Above & Beyond the traditional classroom. Students receive one-on-one attention from faculty, live on a diverse residential campus, and explore a wealth of opportunities—from immersion terms to internships, research and creative work, community service, and study abroad—to pursue their interests on the Knox campus and around the world. And when our graduates take this experience out into the world, they discover that it works for them. And for the people they work and live with.
Our graduates rise Above & Beyond their greatest expectations, finding success in all dimensions of their lives. Knox alumni teach at the nation's—and world's—leading educational institutions; lead international corporations; write for the world's leading newspapers and publishers; make new discoveries every day; and contribute to the well-being of local, national, and international communities. In short, Knox graduates do work that powers the world.
Above & Beyond: The Initiatives for Knox are fundraising projects and priorities that will build on our historic strengths and invest in future endeavors, ensuring that Knox will provide students with a transformative, human-powered education for the 21st century.
During Phases I and II of Above & Beyond, new facilities were built and existing structures and renovated, and endowed funds for students and faculty were established, and current gifts offering opportunities both on and off campus. Thanks to generous donors, Alumni Hall was transformed; the innovative Whitcomb Art Center is attracting more and more students interested in studying and making art; and $13.5 million in new endowed scholarships is making available $675,000 in new scholarship monies each year for Knox students.
Above & Beyond Phase II completed June 30, 2019. During that phase, donors gave $97.2 million or 114% of the Phase II goal of $85.3 million. When combined with Above & Beyond Phase I (Alumni Hall), donors have given $110 million to Knox.
Thank you to all who have gone "all in" for Knox.
