Knox Community Garden
Located across from the on-campus Eco House, the Knox Community Garden provides a place for students to learn how to garden and appreciate the organic produce and flowers that they grow with their own hands.
If you are interested in maintaining, learning about, and tending the garden, the Knox Community Garden Club is for you.
- Provide tools and supplies for garden maintenance
- Create a sense of community through gardening
- Increase sustainability and the awareness of sustainability through gardening
- Educate anyone and everyone who wants to learn about planting, caring for, and harvesting organic produce and flowers
Knox Community Garden Fall Festival
In the past, members of the club have hosted October festivals in which all members of campus and the community are invited to harvest and cook an abundance of produce from the garden. Afterward, everyone enjoys the food in an outdoor picnic, sometimes accompanied by a live bluegrass band. In the past, dishes made with garden produce have included:
- Pesto pasta
- Vegetarian chili
- Fresh salad
- Mashed herb potatoes
After the festival, people are able to take home whatever produce and flowers are leftover before the garden needs to be turned over for the winter.
The Knox Community Garden Club meets twice weekly; once to plan and once for garden work, and no experience is necessary. Simply come with a willingness to learn and excitement about gardening.
