The Office of Sustainability was created in 2012 when Knox College hired its first Sustainability Coordinator. Since then, we have taken the initiatives started by students and a group of dedicated supporters to institutionalize sustainability efforts on campus. We provide support and guidance on matters related to environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The Office supports, encourages, markets, and advocates for sustainability across all departments and at all levels of the Knox Community.

Managed by the Director of Sustainability Initiatives with the support of the Food Systems Coordinator and a dedicated team of student employees, we are behind the efforts to reduce waste, reduce energy, grow clean food, share resources, and advocate for all the work done by student, staff, and faculty to support sustainability.

The Office of Sustainability is open to students, staff, and faculty. We are here to answer your questions and help you to make the more sustainable choice in what you do. Come to us early on in a project and we'd be happy to research the best and most sustainable solution with you. Or if you are proud of your research or efforts that make our world more sustainable - let us know!
