Spring 2017

The Campus Life Office organizes the annual room selection process, which apportions returning students to residence halls, houses, apartments, and cultural centers.

We know from experience that Room Selection can be a confusing and stressful time, but it doesn't have to be. So as you begin the process of choosing a space for the 2016-2017 academic year, there are three things that will make Room Selection rewarding (and more bearable!) for you.

1. Ask questions. Stop by the Campus Life Office (across from Founder's Computer Lab), call us at 309-341-7527, or e-mail us at

2. Think about where you want to live and talk to others about it.

  • Residence Halls: Suite and room info on Knox's residence halls
  • Apartments: Hamblin Hall, 240 W. Tompkins (Exec), and 284 W. Tompkins (Tompkins)
  • Houses: On-campus houses are available to students. Some of these are filled through the theme housing process
  • Cultural Centers: International House, ABLE House, Asian Cultural, and Casa Latina
  • Fraternity House: Each chapter determines who will live in the house

3. Keep your options open. Do not go into the room selection process with just one place in mind to live next year. Make a priority list of three or four different areas. That way if you don't receive your first choice, you have other ideas in mind.
