Becky Hale

Director of Creative Services

I began working at Knox in 1997 and have served as the Staff Council secretary and representative for Admission, Advancement, and Communications since the fall of 2016. I wanted to be on Staff Council because I enjoy collaborating with people in all areas of campus and making Knox a better place to work. I love working for Knox because my co-workers are the best. They are like family to me. I also appreciate working with students. They keep me young—well, at least young at heart.

Associate Director, Alumni & Constituent Relations

I started working at Knox in December 2001. I served on the Administrative Issues Committee from the fall of 2015 to the fall of 2018, chairing the committee in 2017 and 2018. I have served as a representative on Staff Council since the fall of 2017, and was just elected co-chair of the council. I joined the Staff Council because I believe in giving staff a voice at Knox. I really enjoy meeting and working with people from all departments to find out what they do and how the council can help them.  I love working at Knox because of the community that has welcomed me—staff, faculty, students, alumni. People at Knox really do try to assist anyone who needs help if they need it. I have found that if someone does not know the answer, they will usually try to help you find someone who does. I am fortunate to work with our students, who oftentimes lift me up and make me think that almost anything is possible.

Custodian

I started working at Knox in October of 2008 in Dining Services. In 2016 I filled a mid-term vacancy, and have served as co-chair for the Nominations and Election committee. Nancy Fennig brilliantly handled the computer work, and Susan Williams and I will co-chair the committee through the upcoming election cycle, with Nancy's guidance!  I'm also the Union representative to IPPC. I've recently joined the Staff Development committee, planning and hosting monthly presentations by speakers on topics useful to staff members.  I am INFJ per Myers Briggs. Helping to make things work more equitably for all is my passion!  Communication, respect, fixing what's broken, and finding the joy seem to be keys.  The potential for building a resilient community here, with Knox College central to that goal, is what helped me decide to move my family from the Seattle area to Galesburg in 2005. My daughter graduated from Knox in 2011, the first college graduate in the family!
