Knox is known for its vibrant campus community and engaged students, faculty, and staff. And with more than 100 student clubs and organizations and 60 academic departments and programs, countless events are hosted on campus each term. The Office of Communications can help promote these events in a variety of ways.

We do want to remind you that the best way to promote your event on campus is to submit it to the campus events calendar. Not only is this only college events calendar readily available to the public, it's what Communications and local media—use to plan our weekly campus news coverage. Submit an event.

How We Can Help

Communications will provide full promotional support for the following campus events:

  • High college events: Opening Convocation, Homecoming, Family & Friends Weekend, MLK Convocation, Founders Day Convocation, and Commencement.
  • Endowed lectureships: Honnold Lecture, Burkhardt Lecture, Stellyes Distinguished Lecture in Global Affairs, Robison Lecture, Joe Morgan Lecture, Carlin Career Forum, and others as identified by the Office of Advancement.
  • Events open to the public and with significant external draw: Knox Rootabaga Jazz Festival, Knox College Choir concerts, conferences, and other events as identified by the Office of Communications.

Full promotional support is defined as:

  • Consultation with Communications on event planning and promotion.
  • Marketing support, which may include one or all of the following: a press release or web story, event poster, and advertising.
  • Promotion and coverage on the College's website, social media pages, and other online venues.

For all other campus events, Communications may offer its services in one or more of the following ways:

  • The creation of a press release or web story, event poster, and promotional advertising.
  • Promotion and coverage on the College's website, social media pages, and other online venues.
  • Communications will handle requests for event support in the order in which these requests are received. With the exception of the Events Calendar, the coverage listed above is determined at the discretion of the Office of Communications.

In order to receive the most comprehensive and effective support, please contact Communications at least one month prior to your event. If less time is given, we will do our best to provide full promotional support.
