We're not exaggerating when we say that Knox has a storied history, but our present is even more exciting. Help us tell the Knox story or share important college news items—we are ready and willing to work with you when you or the media want to tell your story.

How We Work

With so many stories to tell, we have a team of staff and students who work daily on news and stories for the website, print and digital publications, and social media. We look for ways to publicize the quality and quantity of scholarship and creative work conducted by Knox faculty and students. We also work with local, state, and national media to promote the College, its faculty, staff, and students and to manage media relations regarding College administrative policies and activities.

How We Can Help

With experienced former journalists as part of our Communications team, we can help you assess media inquiries and help facilitate the story or interview. We can also prep students, staff, and faculty for interviews, draft talking points, provide messaging, and offer tips for effective communications in person, on the telephone, via email, or on the radio or television. How You Can Help

So many members of the Knox community are doing amazing work that deserves coverage, whether that be a photo, video, web story, or magazine article, but we don't always know about everything happening around campus. Please let us know when you are doing something that might be worth telling, including research findings; exhibitions of creative works; speakers, performances, or other public presentations; unusual or new classroom techniques or topics; collaborative work between/among disciplines; new uses for technological innovations. Never hesitate to contact us—we are always looking for a great story.

We simply ask that you reach out to us as far in advance as possible. Good coverage takes time. Like reporters, we plan our stories two to three weeks ahead, requiring as much detail as possible as far in advance as possible.

Working with the Media

All news and information to be released to the media from the College should be coordinated through the Office of Communications. Members of the Knox community are encouraged to contact the chief communications officer when they are working with the media or when the media contacts them with an inquiry.

Please also contact the us if you see an unescorted member of the media on campus. If you cannot reach anyone in Communications, contact Campus Safety. Someone on our team will check in with the reporter, assess their purpose, and assist them if necessary.

Speaking to the Media

The chief communications officer acts as the primary crisis spokesperson on behalf of the College, as authorized by the president. Members of the President's Council and other administrative staff also may speak on behalf of the College on topics pertaining to their areas of responsibility and expertise, as appropriate. Anyone speaking with the media should clearly indicate whether they are providing personal opinion or expertise, or speaking on behalf of the College.
