Going to a medical provider alone for the first time can be intimidating. There are some things you can do for it to be a productive appointment.

  • Bring your insurance card to every appointment.
  • Bring your prescriptions with you. This will make it easy for the medical provider to see what you are taking, along with amount, in order for continuity of care.
  • If you have had any significant medical procedure/diagnoses, either current or a history, bring the information with you.
  • Since Health Services is a walk-in clinic, be prepared to have to wait. Your health is the upmost important, just like everyone else's. Having something to do can help make the time go by faster. The Health Services staff works very hard to get everyone in, in a timely manner.
  • Ask questions. This is the time to be active in your health care. Write them down if you are concerned that you may forget.
  • If you do not understand something, speak up. When someone is not feeling well, their main goal can be to get in to see someone then leave so they can rest. This is completely understandable, but the medical provider is there to not only help you to feel better, they are there to educate you as well.
