Since 1995, the Richter Memorial Trusts have provided more than $1.3 million to support students pursuing projects that foster independence of thought and expression beyond the classic classroom setting. Funds have supported travel to conduct research, research internships, and the purchase of materials, supplies, or equipment to pursue your ambitious independent and creative projects. And, any student in any discipline is eligible to apply for funds from the Richter program.

Richter deadlines for Academic Year 2019-2020 are as follows:

The Vovis Center will now be accepting all Richter applications on a “rolling basis.”

Please see below for a tentative review date /decision date schedule.

Review date: Wednesday April 1*
Decision date: Wednesday April 8
*All applications received in anticipation of the March 27 deadline were reviewed on April 1.

Review date: Wednesday April 15
Decision date: Wednesday April 22

Review date: Wednesday April 29
Decision date: Wednesday May 6

Summer applications will continue to be accepted / reviewed on these additional dates:

Review date: May 13
Decision date: May 20

Review date: May 27
Decision date: June 3

Additional Notes:
Faculty Signature Page (for academic year projects): Please have your faculty sponsor email Sandy Jones ( stating their approval instead of obtaining their signature (you do not need to do anything with the faculty signature page that is generated). 

Letters of Recommendation (for summer projects): These should still be sent to Sandy Jones ( as usual.

Other paperwork: Please anticipate all other paperwork to be completed electronically (including signed award agreements, purchase orders, cash advances, etc.)
