Cultural Centers

The Center for Intercultural Life (CIL) helps support six residential cultural centers and one non-residential cultural center for students on campus. Each centers has its own mission and purpose on campus. Some centers are connected to specific cultural organizations, and others serve multiple organizations. Common to all are the following goals:

  • Be a space for affinity identifying students to find community, sit back and relax.
  • Educate the campus about particular cultural and social justice issues relevant on and off campus.
  • Educate the campus about the contributions of particular cultures historically and socially.

Cultural centers are not exclusive to their culture, they are for the enjoyment and learning experience of every Knox student. Every cultural center promotes the idea of inclusivity and diversity, welcoming everyone to engage in the histories that are within each cultural center.
