February 8, 2019

  • Holes for the different HVAC systems continue to be made in floors, walls, and ceilings. This work should be completed in the next week or two.
  • Steel and decking materials will arrive soon and installation of the steel should begin in the next week or so.

February 1, 2019

  • Demolition work is nearly complete, with just a few small areas remaining.
  • Contractors are marking locations in the floors, walls, and ceilings where holes will be cut and drilled in the concrete for placement of mechanical systems such as water pipes, drains, and duct work for HVAC.
  • Structural steel is expected to begin arriving in about two weeks. Once in place, the contractor will start preparing to install concrete.

January 25, 2019

  • The majority of demolition work has been completed in the core. Work is now underway to create openings for various utilities.

January 11, 2019

  • To keep cold air from traveling down the wing hallways, please be sure to keep all wing doors that connect to the core of the building closed.

January 2, 2018

  • New partition walls are up in the hallways to allow for wing-to-wing travel.
  • Doors are being installed in the new walls in front of the old doors at the internal stairways in the A-Core. These internal stairways are only to be used in the event of an emergency and should not be used for normal travel. The stairways at the end of the wings should be used to travel to different floors.

December 18, 2018

  • Demolition is 95% complete on the second floor and 50% on the first floor. Remaining demolition should be completed by December 28. 
  • Construction of temporary passage walls from wing to wing on the second floor will begin on December 20, followed by the first floor.
  • Beginning December 31, custodial staff will to teaming up to do heavy cleaning throughout the entire building to remove demo dust and prepare for the arrival of students. Please be patient, as it will take a few weeks to get things back into shape.

December 11, 2018

  • Second floor heavy demolition is nearly complete and the contractor will be moving to the first floor starting December 12. 
  • Second floor walkway partition walls allowing access from wing to wing will be erected soon, with first-floor partitions to follow. Directional signage will show navigation from wing to wing.
