Fantasy author Patricia Wrede will read from her own works at 4 p.m., Friday, April 18, in the Muelder Room, Seymour Library, Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois. The reading is free and open to the public.
Wrede has written extensively for children and young adults, with five novels in the Shadows over Lyra series, four in the Enchanted Forest Chronicles series, three in the Regency Fantasy series, two in the Magic and Malice series, and three in the Cecelia and Kate series, including her most recent, "The Mislaid Magician or Ten Years After." She has written three junior novelizations in the Star Wars series, and "The Book of Enchantments," a short story collection. Wrede also has contributed several stories to the Liavek anthology series.
A graduate of Carleton College, Wrede earned an MBA at the University of Minnesota and worked as an accountant and financial analyst before becoming a full-time writer in 1985.
Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 45 states and 44 nations. Knox's 'Old Main' is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
