Men's and Women's Soccer Teams to Host Midwest Conference Tournaments

Prairie Fire women's soccer vs. Cornell College

The Knox College Prairie Fire women’s and men’s soccer teams earned their respective Midwest Conference Championships and are the top seeds in this weekend's Midwest Conference Tournaments on November 8 and 9 at Knox College.

Women Earn Fourth Consecutive Championship

The Prairie Fire women's program earned its fourth consecutive MWC Championship with a 7-1-1 conference record.

The women will play Lake Forest in the first round of the tournament at Jorge Prats Field at 11:00 a.m. on November 8. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the Cornell vs. Monmouth game on November 9 at 11:00 a.m. for the championship. The Prairie Fire will be competing to earn their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.  Watch the games live.

Senior Annie Peterson says this season was all about taking it day-by-day to reach the tournament. "Each season the team is different so it was just about finding our identity as a team and earning each win. I can't wait for Friday to work toward defending the tournament championship!"

Men Look to Earn Second Consecutive Appearance in NCAA Tournament

The men's squad earned the second MWC Championship in three years with a conference record of 8-1-0. The team will face off against Monmouth at Jorge Prats Field at 2:00 p.m. on November 8. The victor will play the winner of the Lake Forest vs. St. Norbert game on November 9 at 2:00 p.m. for the championship. Knox is looking to earn its second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Watch the games live.

"It has been an amazing feeling to see that at the end of the day, all the work done in preseason has been rewarded with this championship. You only have one chance to get this reward with this particular group of people and we were able to do just that," said junior Alessandro Benelli after capturing the conference championship last weekend. "I believe this championship will give us confidence for the future, which is much needed for our next goal: winning the conference tournament."

The winner of both conference tournaments will earn the MWC automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III National Tournament that starts on November 15.
