Jane Miller Elected Trustee

Jane Strode Miller has been elected to the Knox College Board of Trustees. A 1981 Knox College graduate, Miller is a veteran business executive who recently founded her own consulting firm, Miller Management Group, of Boulder, Colorado.

"Jane Strode Miller brings to Knox a record of achieving strong business results, mentoring junior executives and managing teams through periods of significant change," said Knox College President Roger Taylor. "We welcome Jane to the Board of Trustees and look forward to working with her."

Miller's current work focuses on sales and distribution strategies in the food industry. Until last year, she served as President of the United Kingdom and Ireland division of HJ Heinz Company, where she led the acquisition and integration of HP Foods into Heinz. She began at Heinz in 2004 as Chief Growth Officer, responsible for global sales and marketing. From 2002 to 2004 she was Executive Vice President of the Western Division of Bestfoods Baking Company. Previously she worked for more than 13 years at the FritoLay division of Pepsico, where she was the most senior woman executive. In 1993 her management group won the firm's Herman Lay award for excellence in sales, profits and market share.

Miller earned her bachelor's degree at Knox in Russian Area Studies and a master's degree in business administration at Southern Methodist University. At Knox she also joined the Delta Delta Delta fraternity and was elected to Mortar Board, a national academic and service honor society. She is a member of the Knox College Business Advisory Council and has served as a Career Services Volunteer.

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 45 states and 44 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
