Knox Marks Bike to Work Day 2013

Knox College marked Bike to Work Day on May 17, as employees who biked from home to campus enjoyed free tune-ups and snacks coordinated by the College's Wellness Program

With 20 faculty, staff, and guests in attendance, six bikes received tune-ups, courtesy of the campus Sustainability Office, from students Colin Coutts and Max Pothoff and Sustainability Coordinator Shawn Tubb. The Campus Safety Office registered seven bikes.

According to a survey of some 450 Knox employees, 16% of respondents indicated that they bike or walk to work at least some of the time. A similar survey of 220 students who live off-campus indicated that about 20% bike or walk to campus at least some of the time.
