Knox College is celebrating Earth Month in April with numerous events, including a lecture on environmentalism by Chad Pregracke, founder of Living Lands and Waters; an Earth Day 5k Fun Run and Walk; and an Earth Day Festival. All three events are open to the public.

Pregracke will present the EquiKnox lecture on Tuesday, April 18, at 7:00 p.m. A 2016 Knox honorary degree recipient, Pregracke is founder of Living Lands & Waters, a nonprofit organization dedicated to cleaning up and preserving our nation's rivers. His talk on environmentalism and a question-and-answer session afterward will be in the Alumni Room of Old Main.

The Earth Day 5k Fun Run and Walk will take place on Saturday, April 22, at 9:00 a.m. The non-competitive fun run starts and ends at Turner Track on the Knox College campus with a route through downtown Galesburg. Online registration is open through Wednesday, April 19.

An Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 22, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the Knox Gizmo patio will feature tables of activities for children and adults, along with popcorn and snowcones.

Knox students also have the opportunity to enjoy additional school and student organization-sponsored events happening throughout Earth Month, such as an herb planting workshop, a Share Shop fashion show, a DIY bee product workshop, a repair fair, a candle making workshop, and a Green Oaks camping trip.

Earth Month events have been organized by Students for Sustainability and the Knox Office of Sustainability.
