The Knox College Jazz Ensemble performs its Fall Concert at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, November 7, in Kresge Recital Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts, on the Knox campus in Galesburg, Illinois. The concert is free and open to the public.
Directed by Nicole Malley, instructor in music and director of the jazz program, the ensemble will premiere an arrangement by Knox student Yumi Kusunoki of Lee Morgan's famous trumpet ballad "Ceora." A senior from Osaka, Japan, Kusunoki is the lead trombone in the ensemble.
The concert will also feature several selections with vocalist Devan Cameron, a senior from Hamburg, New Jersey, and one, "At Sundown," by Artie Shaw, with solo clarinetist Michael Yu, a senior from Evanston, Illinois.
Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 47 states and 48 countries. Knox's 'Old Main' is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
