Knox College Choir to Perform at Carnegie Hall

Knox Choir

The Knox College Choir will perform a concert in world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City, New York, as part of its 2013 tour. The 52-voice choir is directed by Laura Lane, professor of music and director of choral activities at Knox.

For the Carnegie Hall concert on March 25 at 8 p.m., the Choir will perform the Haydn Lord Nelson Mass with the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra and other ensembles, including singers from Monmouth College, the Galesburg Community Chorus, singers from St. Ambrose University, and the Wicker Park Choral Singers. The Carnegie Hall concert is presented by Manhattan Concert Productions.

The Choir also will perform a separate a cappella program on March 20 in St. Joseph's Church Yorkville in New York City and on March 22 in Irvington Presbyterian Church in Irvington, New York. This program includes works by Palestrina, Miskinis, Chilcott, and Moses Hogan, in addition to a new work by Haitian composer Sydney Guillaume.

After returning from New York, the Choir will present the Lord Nelson Mass at 7:30 p.m. April 20 in Central Congregational Church in Galesburg, teaming up with the Galesburg Community Choir, the Monmouth College Chorale, and professional soloists and members of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony.

The Choir's Send-off Concert will be Sunday, March 3 at 3 p.m. in First Lutheran Church, Seminary and Water streets, in Galesburg, Illinois.

The Choir's Home Tour Concert will be at 7:30 p.m. March 28 in Kresge Recital Hall on the Knox College campus. (Photo above: The Knox College Choir rehearses for its upcoming tour.)
