Monday, September 4

New Student Check-In
12:00-5:00 p.m.
2nd Floor, Alumni Hall
We’re excited to meet you! Check in and receive information about other orientation events. Your student will receive his/her dorm keys and orientation packet. 

Campus Tour
1:30 and 5:00 p.m.
Depart from Alumni Hall
Take a first look at your student's new home! A current Knox Student will be your guide. 

Share Shop
2:30 p.m.
Conger-Neal Hall. Depart from Alumni Hall.
Need something for your student's dorm room? See if you can find it in the Share Shop, the free campus donation center.

Banking & Cell Phone Info Session
4:00 p.m.
Trustees Room, Alumni Hall
Learn how to set up a bank account and cell phone in Galesburg.

New Student Check-In
5:00-10:00 p.m.
Administrative Services Center, 368 S. Prairie Street
If you arrive to campus after 5:00 p.m., please check in at Campus Safety, located in the Administrative Services Center. Knock on the door or call (309)341-7979 to reach a Campus Safety Officer. Then come to Alumni Hall for New Student Check-In. 

Dinner
5:30-7:30 p.m.
Hard Knox Café, Seymour Union
Meet at Alumni Hall at 6:00 p.m. to go to dinner with a group. Parents and other guests are welcome to join students with payment at the dining hall.

Shopping Trip
7:00-9:00 p.m.
Depart from Alumni Hall for Target or Walmart

Tuesday, September 5

8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Resource Fair
8:30-11:00 a.m.

  • Banking and Cell Phones, Location TBD: Your student can open a PNC bank account, get a SIM card for their phone, and explore resources for new international students. Students who need to purchase a phone can do so at Walmart during our evening shopping trip. 
  • I-94 Record, Founders Lab, Seymour Union: F-1 and other visa holding students should look up their I-94 record.
  • ID Cards, Dining Services, Seymour Union: Students should get their photo taken for their Knox College student ID.
  • Share Shop, Conger-Neal Hall: Need something for your student's dorm room? See if you can find it in the Share Shop, the free campus donation center.

Lunch with the Office of International Student Services
12:00 p.m.
Location TBD
Parents and other guests are invited to join the Office of International Student Services (OISS) and other faculty and staff for lunch. Lunch is provided free of charge.  

International Student Life at Knox College
1:30 p.m.
Room 300, Alumni Hall
Learn about what your student will experience as an international student at Knox College. Topics covered include academics, health insurance, cultural adjustment, and the F-1 visa regulations and benefits

Dinner

Join the Office of International Student Services for dinner at Iron Spike in downtown Galesburg. Separate checks please.
