Blaze A Trail

The First Year Experience includes fall New Student Orientation, a common reading, your First Year Preceptorial, the Residential Curriculum, and other programs that will unfold over the course of the academic year.

This experience, known as Blaze a Trail, will introduce you to how learning happens here at Knox, to our vast array of campus resources and support services, to faculty and staff who will teach and mentor you, and to new friends from around the country and around the world.

Beginning with a four-day orientation, you will get to know peers from varying cultural backgrounds—students from bustling cities and rural communities—as we unite as one community, living and learning here in the heart of the Illinois prairie.

You are embarking on a personal, educational, social, and cultural journey that will forever change your life. When you find that you need support, guidance, or just a simple answer to a question, the Student Development staff—along with the entire Knox faculty and staff—are ready and eager to assist you. We care deeply about your success and look forward to helping you become the person you want to be.
