Knox's International Pre-Orientation Program (IPOP) will be September 6-9, 2021. All new international students who will enter the U.S. on a visa are required to attend IPOP, and should arrive to Knox on Monday, September 6. If you are fall student-athlete, you may need to arrive before September 6. View the Move-in Schedule to learn more.
During IPOP, you'll have a chance to recover from jetlag, get items you may not have been able to pack, open a bank account, set up your cell phone, and begin learning about what to expect in a U.S. college classroom. You'll also meet your new classmates and current students, as well as learn more about Knox and Galesburg. Following IPOP, international students will participate in New Student Orientation for all new students. Transportation to campus from local airports, train, and bus stations will be available.
Permanent residents and U.S. citizens living abroad are also welcome to attend IPOP, and should arrive at Knox on September 6 if attending. Please contact the Office of International Student Services if you would like to attend.
International students whose first language is not English are also invited to take part in an Intensive English Language Program from August 17 to September 3. Learn more about this program, including fees and how to register.
Your residence hall room will be furnished with a bed, desk, chair, and a chest of drawers. Since space in your luggage will be limited, there will probably be many things like bedding, toiletries, and other necessities that you aren't able to bring. We will provide you with a set of bed sheets and a towel to get you started, and we will visit local shopping centers during IPOP. Our campus Share Shop is also an excellent place to find supplies for your dorm room.
