I'd like to personally welcome you to residential life at Knox College. Having spent my undergraduate years living on campus and the past 15 years working with students within residential communities, I know that where you live is an important part of your college experience. Your four years on campus will provide you with opportunities to develop new friendships and skills and to learn about new ideas, beliefs and cultures within a caring community atmosphere. Living on campus also provides unique opportunities for interpersonal learning and growth as you live, study, and play with the rest of the campus community. Residential education is a key part of a liberal arts education.
It is my priority to find the best place for you to live during your first year on campus. I need your help to make that happen. Please take a few minutes to log into your student portal and fill out your Knox Housing Preference Form before June 1, 2017.
The form asks a number of questions because getting to know you is essential in finding the best match for you and your roommate and suite mates. These individuals will interact with you on a daily basis as you become integrated with the larger Knox community. You may eat meals, study, and even attend college programs with them. In fact, they may become life-long friends. So be sure to provide any additional information you think will help me in making the very best decision possible.
To tell us your housing plans and help us make the best match, it is important to submit the Housing Preference Form no later than June 1, 2017. In July, you will receive notification of your housing assignment along with the name and contact information of your roommate and Resident Assistant (RA). Then you can start the first of many conversations with those individuals you will be sharing your living space with upon your arrival.
If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 309-341-7527 or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to seeing you on campus this fall!
