Career Preparation & Support

Whatever the future may hold for our graduates, Knox is dedicated to supporting them throughout their four years on campus and beyond.

Ways that Knox empowers students and alumni to navigate their professional journeys:

1. A center dedicated solely to career preparation. The Bastian Family Center for Career Success helps students plan for their career, leverage the Knox alumni network and Galesburg community, and make the most of their education, resources, and connections to secure internships and postgraduate opportunities. Plus: industry connections and the on-campus Career Closet and Knox Career Wardrobe.
2. Immersive programs dedicated to exploring career options. Each Spring Break, selected students through an application process will participate in the Professional Immersion Experience (PIE) trip. The PIE trip includes company site visits to explore a variety of industries, followed by a networking event designed to foster meaningful connections with alumni and professionals. And the four-day Business Intensive Seminar offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of business, focusing on leadership and innovation skills.
3. Opportunities to prepare for life after Knox. Succeeding in life after Knox extends beyond the classroom, a resume or writing workshop. We connect Knox students with hands-on experiences. Through KnoxCorps, students partner with local nonprofits for impactful projects. KnoXPloration offers career exploration opportunities locally, and Parker Dewey provides micro-internships opportunities.
4. Access to an alumni network 16,000 strong and growing. Working together with the Office of Engagement, the Bastian Family Center for Career Success brings dozens of alumni to campus each year to meet directly with students, whether that be through networking sessions with the Knox Alumni Council 
5. Resources to support all of the above.  Experiences like research or creative work, internships, community service, or study abroad help students gain the skills needed—to think critically and creatively, to communicate clearly, to adapt to new technologies, and to navigate today's interdependent and interconnected world—for success after Knox. That's why we created the Power of Experience Grant, which provides all incoming Knox students with up to $2,000 to support a qualifying hands-on learning opportunity during their junior or senior year.
