Dear Knox College Alumni,
I know many of you have been awaiting a decision about Homecoming, and I had promised to let you know at this time whether or not Knox is moving forward with Homecoming Weekend, October 8 through 10.
For the past few weeks, I and members of our senior team have been holding out hope that data and science would point to the possibility of Knox hosting a large gathering of our alumni from around the globe. Sadly, though, as the October dates near, different trends have emerged, and we have concluded that a Homecoming Weekend event on campus is not possible, nor safe. Therefore, in consultation with Board of Trustees leadership, I have made the difficult decision to postpone the Homecoming Weekend planned for next month in order to preserve the health and safety of our campus and alumni community.
At this time, Homecoming 2021 is postponed to Spring 2022. Please save the date for the weekend of May 12-15, as the Knox campus community will be excited to welcome you back at that time. There will be more details to come, as we develop our plans to give you a celebration- and event-filled weekend in the spring. Please be assured that I and our alumni engagement team will continue to communicate with you over the next few months as plans come together. Please also note that at this time, the College plans to hold Homecoming again in Fall 2022, October 21 - 23.
I know many of you are disappointed about this situation, and hope you understand the reasoning behind the postponement. Should you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please contact Megan Clayton in our Advancement Office at pclayton@knox.edu or (309) 341-7476.
Thank you for your patience and continuing passion for Knox College.
Regards,
All my best,
C. Andrew McGadney President Knox College
