Monica Berlin ’95, Lynette Lombard, Andrew Mehl, and Julio Noriega have been named to endowed professorships in recognition of their distinguished teaching, scholarship, and service to the College. Berlin, professor of English, has been appointed as the Richard P. & Sophia D. Henke Distinguished Professor. Lombard, professor of art, has been appointed to the Chancie Ferris Booth Professorship. Mehl, professor of chemistry, has been named as the George Appleton Lawrence Distinguished Service Professor. Noriega, professor of modern languages (Spanish), has been named as the Burkhardt Distinguished Chair in Modern Languages. Congratulations and well done to all!
Chancie Ferris Booth Professor of Art Lynette Lombard was also one of the artists featured in Negotiating Space, a group art exhibition at the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, and she participated in a virtual artist talk on YouTube. Photos from the exhibition can be viewed on Facebook.
Robin Ragan, professor of modern languages (Spanish), has been selected to receive a Modern Language Association Humanities Innovation Grant for her project, “Interpreting for Crisis Contexts in Immigration: Engaged Humanities.” The selection committee praised the project’s innovative and collaborative nature and its potential to positively affect interest in the humanities. In addition, Professor Ragan recently gave a Knox Together virtual presentation about her work.
