A Cappella, Online

Thomas Clark, voice instructor and director of Knox a cappella groups Enharmonic Fire and TriTones, has discovered that teaching voice virtually can be even more effective than in-person instruction.

Long-Distance Dancing

Professor Jennifer Smith shares two new collaborations from students. “Dancing Alone Together” features solo performances that have been knitted together into a single piece. “The Exquisite Corps Project” was created by each dancer adding 30 seconds of choreography to what eventually grew to a six-minute performance.

Knox Professor on “Making School Integration Work”

Assistant Professor of Educational Studies Deirdre Dougherty recently co-authored “Making School Integration Work,” a look at how two school districts were merged into a single district to increase the diversity of its student population.

Did You Know...

As their families, friends, and college classmates mourn their tragic deaths, a fund is being established at Knox to remember Beth Potter ’89 and Robin Carre ’85. The Potter-Carre Knox Experience Fund will be an endowed fund that will enable generations of future students to pursue educational experiences in public health, youth mentoring, social justice, education and international relations—all causes near to Beth’s and Robin’s hearts.

Alum Earns Ph.D. in Chemistry at Cornell University

Michael Supej ’15 will continue his studies as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. After focusing on polymers at Cornell, he says he’s “ready to change gears and start to look at developing methods to make small molecules that may have relevant applications in pharmaceuticals.”

Jenna Milligan '20 has accepted a position as a retirement consultant at Fidelity Investments in Chicago.

Cayne Randle '20 has been accepted to the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.

Michelle Dudley '20 has accepted a position as a software engineer with Google in New York City.

Evan Economos '19 has accepted an offer to study at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.

Sanjana Sultana '20 has accepted an internship with Unilever Bangladesh.

Chihiro Kawakami '20 has accepted a position with the global tax and audit firm KPMG in Tokyo.

Hailey Nguyen '21 has accepted an internship in regulatory affairs with AbbVie, Inc.

Abby Thillman '20 will pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry at Marquette University this fall.

Kira Carney '20 not only earned a junior editor internship with Kulture Hub; she has also been accepted into the MFA program in creative writing at New England College.

Bhumika Gupta '20 has been admitted to the master’s program in biomedical engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.

Olivia Grierson '22 has received an internship working with the development team at Special Olympics Colorado.

Daniel Bien '22 will spend the summer as an intern with the Lake County, Illinois, State Attorney’s Office.

Alec Hegg '20 will pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry at Yale University.

Keeping big secrets is part of the spirit of Flunk Day/Week—and the Knox College Choir has a doozy. Throughout spring term, each member individually recorded their own part of Paul Mealor’s “Locus iste” from home (some as far away as Vietnam) to create this spectacular choral performance. It was premiered exclusively for Choir students during Flunk Week, but now it’s available to all of us. Enjoy.
