Because of the accelerating COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing stay-at-home order from the State of Illinois, Knox College has made the decision to teach the entirety of spring term remotely.
March 14, 2020
I write to you this afternoon with the hope that your final exams are going well. I understand what a stressful, uncertain time this is for all of you, and am sending you all my warmest wishes and compassion.
I also write with an update about travel restrictions and who may be permitted to remain on campus during the first part of spring term.
As of March 14, there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in our immediate area, and no suspected cases on our campus. As we know, the single most important thing we can do as a community right now is to prevent the spread of illness on campus. For this reason, we have made the determination that any student who leaves campus for spring break may not return to live on campus until in-person classes resume. This will help us keep our on-campus community safe and healthy.
We understand that this may require you to alter your travel plans. Any student who needs assistance doing so may contact me directly. Additionally, please remember that students who are unable to return home may petition to stay on campus by filling out this form by Sunday at 10:00 p.m. We will let you know if your petition has been approved on Monday.
Please take care of yourselves, your families, and each other. We are here to support you in any way we can.
