Ordering Caps & Gowns

Graduates participating in the Commencement ceremony are required to wear a cap & gown.

Potential graduates were provided the opportunity to indicate their gown size. The cost of these items is included in the graduate fee. Caps and gowns will be distributed to graduates at Commencement Rehearsal on June 3.

Commencement rehearsal will happen on Thursday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m. for graduates assigned to the morning ceremony and 1:00 p.m. for graduates assigned to the afternoon ceremony. Rehearsal will be on the South Lawn of Old Main. It is mandatory if you plan to participate in the Commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 5.

At rehearsal students will pick up their cap and gown. In addition, students who are eligible for Latin Honors will receive a stole and students who have successfully completed a College Honors project will receive honor cords.

Dress Code

There is no official dress code for the Commencement ceremony. However, we recommend dressing appropriately for the occasion, including footwear. You will be walking across a stage in your gown, so please wear shoes that you will not fall, slip, or trip in.

Graduates participating in the Commencement ceremony are required to wear a cap and gown.

Procession & Lineup

Graduates will line up in the lobby of CFA one hour before their ceremony start time: 9:00 a.m. for the morning ceremony and 2:00 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony.

Announcements & Memorabilia

Commencement memorabilia—from class rings, diploma frames, and graduation announcements—are available for purchase from Oak Hall Graduation Services.

A DVD recording of each Commencement ceremony will be available for purchase through our vendor, Delack Media Group. Five dollars from each sale will be donated back to Knox College.

Photography & Video

Personal photography is allowed.

In addition, a professional photographer will capture three photos - one as they approach the stage, one when they receive their diploma, and a portrait after leaving the stage. Purchase of these photos will be available through the vendor, GradImages. Knox is providing each graduate the option to choose one of these images for free.

After the ceremony, the international flags and the class banner will remain in place for you to take photographs. We ask that graduates and guests be considerate of others, maintaining a 6’ distance from other guests.

Knox College Communications will live stream the event via the Knox College YouTube Channel. A link will be posted on the live stream information page when the live stream is available.

Residence Hall Check Out

Please check out of your residence hall/apartment by noon on Saturday, June 6. Keys must be returned to Campus Safety.
