Commencement Weekend May 31-June 2, 2019
Knox faculty and staff are here to help you and your family prepare for the big day. This page will guide you through the essentials—from getting your cap and gown to finalizing paperwork with the Registrar.
Graduates participating in the Commencement ceremony are required to wear a cap & gown.
NOTE: There are a limited number of gowns available, and any graduate who does not order a gown or reserve a sustainability gown will be required to purchase a new gown from the bookstore before graduation.
Commencement rehearsal will happen at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, in T. Fleming Fieldhouse. It is mandatory if you plan to participate in the Commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 2.
Students who are eligible for Latin Honors will receive a stole. Students who have successfully completed a College Honors project will receive honor cords.
There is no official dress code for the Commencement ceremony. However, we recommend dressing appropriately for the occasion, including footwear. You will be walking across a stage in your gown, so please wear shoes that you will not fall, slip, or trip in.
Graduates will line up at 9:15 a.m. on Commencement day in Memorial Gym.
A picnic lunch will be served after the ceremony in the Seymour Union dining facilities. Reservations are required. Graduates with reservations receive a free lunch. Family and guests will need to purchase a ticket.
Commencement memorabilia—from class rings, diploma frames, and graduation announcements—are available for purchase from Oak Hall Graduation Services.
Personal photography is allowed. In addition, a professional photographer will capture the moment you receive your diploma.
Knox College Communications will live stream the event via YouTube. A link will be posted here when the livestream is available.
Be sure to check with the Registrar's office to make sure they have accurate records of credits earned and requirements completed.
Please check out of your residence hall/apartment by 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2. Keys must be returned to Campus Security.
