The goal of German Club is to provide an inclusive environment for all interested students to explore German language and culture. Our weekly meetings provide an opportunity to have fun with the German language by playing simple games in German and learning cool phrases. Everyone is welcomed to join in from people who have never taken German before to those who have studied abroad and are practically fluent. The goal is to have a good time and learn some German so whoever you are, "Herzlich Willkommen!"
We take German related trips, which are open campuswide, from visiting Oktoberfest in Peoria to going to see the collection of German art at the Art Institute of Chicago. We also host larger events on campus such as a German Nightclub style party in the Fall and a Eurovision Song Contest viewing event in the spring. With these events we hope to share a bit of German culture with the larger Knox community.
German club's latest project is a German-language suite. Currently located in the first floor of Drew House, German Suite is a place for students enthusiastic about German language and culture to live together and practice their German, by speaking as much German as possible with each other on a daily basis. The suite area houses a large library of German books as well as a collection of German games, movies, and music. German Club's weekly meetings and biweekly movie nights also take place here.
