In ART Room, our mission is to empower and build relationships with students at the local middle school through art projects with students who are working to understand their learning disabilities. Volunteers must be DCFS certified and have a recent background check on file.

History

ART Room began as part of the Eye to Eye nationwide program. Eventually, we left that program and created our current program in the style of Eye to Eye. Today, we go into Churchill Middle School on a weekly basis and work with the students. No art experience is required, only an interest in working with children who are neuro-atypical in some way or another.

Featured Activities/ Events

Typically, we do various art projects each week which change from week to week. Materials are typically provided for all participants by the student organization. At the end of the year, we also typically have a pizza party to celebrate the students who are graduating from the program.
