Ashon Bradford (Cornell University), a candidate for the tenure-track position in sociology, will give a presentation on his dissertation research:

Maybe God Forgot to Finish: Poverty, Race and Power in East Carroll Parish

East Carroll Parish, Louisiana is a place of the have and have-nots. Wealth and power in the parish is severely divided by racial lines. The disparity in the parish is so great that, in 2013, CNN ranked East Carroll Parish as “The Most Unequal Place in America.”

In this presentation, Bradford will identify the historical development of wealth inequality in East Carroll Parish through slavery and the Resettlement Administration. In addition, Bradford will make the argument that power in East Carroll Parish has developed over the years into three dimensions.

Everyone is welcome to attend!
