Music Department Colloquium features Grammy Award Winning composer and band leader Maria Schneider.

Maria Schneider is widely considered one of the greatest living composers and bandleaders in the jazz world. She is one of only a few artists to have received Grammy nominations and awards in multiple genre categories, and she is a trailblazer for women in the jazz world, as one of the only female composers and large-ensemble bandleaders to have achieved international renown. Maria has been awarded Grammys for composition, best recording, and best ensemble (in both jazz and classical categories).
