Diversity Abroad is a student-centered organization promoting study abroad opportunities to underrepresented students, with an active network of student members, scholarship opportunities, and more. Knox College is a member of the Diversity Abroad consortium.

Trixie Cordova will join us for this evening workshop on the resources and opportunities available through Diversity Abroad. She will be joined by Knox student presenters Adriana Ortiz, Karina Martinez, Zoe Till-Meidinger, and Karla Medina Alamar. Everyone is welcome!

The workshop will offer an introduction to Diversity Abroad's resources, and will explore key topics in international study:

  • Why is study abroad important and valuable for students?
  • Why is diversity abroad important?
  • What is the mission of the Diversity Abroad organization and what resources does it have for students?
  • What are the ways in which underrepresented students already well prepared for intercultural encounters?
  • How can students prepare well? 
  • What are some ways for underrepresented students to think about self-care, health, safety? 
  • How can students maximize career and graduate school preparation in study abroad? 
  • How can they best talk with parents about the value of study abroad?
