This is the first day of a two-day symposium on the philosophy of food. For the keynote lecture, Dr. Aaron Meskin (Philosophy, University of Georgia) will present a talk on the aesthetics of "third places": cafes, bars, pubs, diners, drive-ins, dives, etc. What are our experiences like in those places? What roles do they play in our lives, socially and aesthetically? The talk will last around 40 minutes, and will be followed by a Q&A.
