2023 Dialogue Session Info:
First Dialogue Session 1:00p-2:15p
Option I, Trustees Room - Healing & Leading: Building Conscious Leaders with Dr. Bates
In this session, participants will take a deep dive into the concepts from Dr. Bates keynote address. Possible points of dialogue will be: How do we care for ourselves while doing the practical work of diversity, equity and inclusion? How do we hold ourselves and others accountable for this continued work?
Option II, Lincoln Room - Mental Health, Accountability and You in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Work
In this session, participants will have the opportunity to explore the concepts in Dr Bates' keynote and how they may see themselves being involved in this DEI work. This dialogue session is designed for campus community members who may be new to these types of conversations or are in the beginning stages of being involved in DEI.
Second Dialogue Session 2:30p-3:45p (All participants in this session, regardless of location, will engage in the same dialogue.)
Lincoln Room & Trustees Room - Knox's Founding & Future: What Abolition and Antiracism Mean to Us
In this session, participants will engage in a dialogue that explores the ideas and concepts around Knox College's founding by abolitionists and how those early ideas relate to contemporary ideas around antiracism. What do these terms mean to us? How can we live our College mission as individual members and a community as a whole? These types of questions are also being explored through the College's Mellon Foundation "Abolition for All Time" grant which is designed to help us explore our roots as an institution connected to abolitionism. More information about this opportunity can be read here.
