Dr. Alyce Mahon is Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Cambridge and is the author of Surrealism and the Politics of Eros (2005) and was the curator of "Dorothea Tanning," the first major retrospective exhibition of Tanning that was held at the Tate Modern, London in 2019. Tanning, who was raised in Galesburg, Illinois and attended Knox College, was one of the most prominent artists within the Surrealist movement. Mahon's lecture will focus on Tanning's surrealist portrayal of the domestic interor and its many multiple symbolic and psychological dimensions.
