Tuesdays from September 24, 2019 to December 17, 2019
5:45 PM - 6:30 PM
First Presbyterian Church
This event is open to the public.
We are the Blessings in a Backpack chapter here at Knox. The Blessings in a Backpack national program provides weekend food for children to improve their lives, help them succeed in school, and give them hope. Through the work of college and community volunteers, 440 students at our community’s five elementary schools are provided with essential food to take home for the weekend. The bags include: soup, oatmeal, granola bars, raisins, crackers, and apples. The apples are donated by Knox students every week. For some elementary school children, this is the only food they will have for the weekend. Every week, 40-60 Knox students meet at First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg (we leave from Alumni Hall at 5:45 PM on Tuesdays) to pack the bags with food. This is a great way to help the community and get community service hours!
