Hello! My name is Anelisa Gamiz. I'd love to talk with you about my Knox experience.
What I'm reading right now:
Enrique's Journey by Sonia Nazario. I read it for a class last year, but I am re-reading it because I love it so much.
The Knox professor with whom you should absolutely take a class:
I think new students should take a class with Wendal Hunigan in anthropology-sociology. He is very passionate about what he teaches and very knowledgeable. Also, I think his classes opened my mind and made me think about how we can understand the problems we face today by looking at history.
The Knox class I never expected to love:
Beginning Acting. I went to an arts high school and have taken acting classes before, but I never really loved it. I only signed up for this course to fulfill my arts requirement, but when I was in the class, I really started to understand acting more. I would go to rehearsals and be excited, and I learned a lot about the history of acting. I plan to take more acting classes for fun.
My most challenging Knox experience:
I took a dialogue facilitation course last year, and I really learned a lot about myself and how my everyday interactions can affect people. It was hard to think in a new and different way, and dialogue is extremely draining. I was going through a difficult time then, and it was so hard to go to class every day and be vulnerable. It really changed me and my outlook of the world.
