Making College Affordable

A nationally recognized financial aid program funded by incredibly generous alumni and friends makes it possible for students from all backgrounds to attend and afford Knox.

We offer a wide variety of need-based financial aid to help you cover your college tuition and expenses, and we're here to guide you through the financial aid process.

How much financial aid will I receive?

Your financial aid award is based on your financial need, which is determined by your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). More than 80 percent of new (U.S. first-year) students entering in fall 2023 qualified for financial aid based on need. Here's what those students received:

COST OF ATTENDANCE

The Office of Student Financial Services establishes a standard cost of attendance budget to calculate your estimated educational costs. This represents typical costs for students during the nine-month academic year based on anticipated enrollment, dependency status, and living arrangements (on-campus, off-campus or with parents).

What’s Included

  • Direct costs (items charged by Knox):
    • tuition,
    • fees, and
    • estimated living expenses (on-campus housing and food)
  • Indirect costs (items not paid to Knox), based on estimates for the Galesburg area:
    • books, supplies, course materials, and equipment
    • estimated living expenses (off-campus housing and food),
    • transportation, 
    • misc. personal expenses, and
    • estimated loan fees

Food estimates are based on 21 meals per week. On-campus food plans vary.
