Financial Aid

Knox offers merit scholarships for international students. These awards commonly range up to one-half of the comprehensive fee, and a few larger scholarships are awarded each year for especially well qualified students who demonstrate greater financial need. Students are automatically considered for merit scholarships. All international applicants must complete the International Student Financial Aid Application (PDF), which you can then upload to your AppTrackerThe ISFAA form is used in this case to determine if Knox College is financially feasible for the international applicant and their family/sponsor.The ability to afford a Knox education may be a factor in determining the admission of international students who are academically qualified, but do not meet financial qualifications.

When making plans to attend Knox, your family should expect the comprehensive fee to increase by 3 to 5 percent each year and prepare for potential fluctuations in currency exchange rates. For more information, see Financial Information for International Students (PDF).

Visa Information

Most foreign nationals wishing to enter the United States are required to have a visa. International students who attend Knox College will typically require the F-1 Student Visa. To apply for an F-1 Visa, an I-20 is required, and before issuing the I-20, Knox College must review students’ financial resources and certify sufficient funding.

If you will study at Knox through the F-1 student visa, submit the I-20 request form on your portal at apply.knox.edu/status. You'll also upload a copy of your passport and submit your financial certification documents through this form. Once you receive your I-20, you can proceed with applying for your student visa at your local U.S. embassy or consulate.

More information is located at these links: Obtaining Your Student (F-1) Visa (PDF), Preparing for Your F-1 Visa Interview (PDF), and Paying the SEVIS Fee (F-1 Students) (PDF).

If you are an international student already in the U.S., or plan to study at Knox College using a visa other than F-1, please contact the Office of International Student Services.
